G9: Forces & Motion: Home Page

Overview and Research Sources

This unit aims to explore the fundamental principles that govern how and why objects move. You will learn to distinguish between scalar and vector quantities, as well as between distance and displacement, and speed and velocity as well as acceleration. You will analyze motion using graphs, apply kinematics equations, and collect data using motion sensors and video analysis tools. The unit also focuses on Newton’s Laws to explain the effects of balanced and unbalanced forces, friction, and air resistance. It concludes with a hands-on experimental design task and research into real-world technologies relevant to motion.
